CBI Expands Lucknow Bribery Probe, Arrests Third Narcotics Inspector and Two Mediators

  • On Wednesday, the CBI arrested CBN inspector Adarsh Yogi and private intermediaries Sunil Jaiswal and Subhash Jaiswal in the Lucknow case.
  • The arrests followed Tuesday’s detention of inspectors Mahipal Singh and Ravi Ranjan and nursing-home owner Gayasuddin Ahmad in an alleged Rs 10 lakh payoff.
  • A CBI spokesperson said Rs 10 lakh purportedly handed to the officers as a bribe was recovered during subsequent proceedings.
  • The FIR cites BNS Section 61(2) and Sections 7, 8 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and names five accused, including Ahmad’s son Kakub.
  • The CBN dismissed Mahipal and suspended Ravi Ranjan and Adarsh as the CBI examines links to a restricted Codeine syrup supply chain tied to Roshan Lal.
