Overview
- A CBI team executed a fresh, warrant-backed search at Harcharan Singh Bhullar’s Sector 40 residence on Thursday, videographing rooms and preparing a detailed valuation inventory.
- Investigators have opened bank lockers and are cataloguing cash, jewellery, luxury watches, firearms and property records to assess assets allegedly disproportionate to known income.
- Earlier searches recovered about ₹7.5 crore in cash, roughly 2.5 kg of gold, 26 high-end watches and documents linked to more than 50 properties.
- Bhullar was arrested on October 16 after a scrap dealer’s complaint alleging an ₹8 lakh bribe and recurring “sewa-paani” demands to “settle” a 2023 FIR, and he is in judicial custody.
- The AAP-led government has deemed Bhullar suspended from October 16 and is preparing a recommendation to the Union home ministry seeking his dismissal within constitutional limits.
