CBI Chargesheets Name Anil Ambani and Rana Kapoor in ₹2,796 Crore Yes Bank–ADA Case

Investigators allege a quid pro quo routing 2017 Yes Bank investments through ADA Group firms to entities tied to Rana Kapoor's family.

Overview

  • The CBI filed combined chargesheets on September 18 before a special court in Mumbai in two cases registered in 2022 on a complaint by Yes Bank’s chief vigilance officer.
  • Prosecutors say Yes Bank approved ₹2,045 crore for RCFL and ₹2,965 crore for RHFL in 2017 despite CARE placing ADA Group financial firms under watch, and the funds were siphoned through multiple layers.
  • The agency pegs the wrongful loss to Yes Bank at about ₹2,796.77 crore and alleges concessional facilities flowed to companies owned by Bindu, Radha and Roshni Kapoor as part of the arrangement.
  • Accused include Anil Ambani, Rana Kapoor, members of the Kapoor family, RCFL, RHFL (now Authum Investment & Infrastructure), and entities such as RAB Enterprises, Imagine Estate, Bliss House, Imagine Habitat, Imagine Residence and Morgan Credits under IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act provisions.
  • The CBI also cites Reliance Nippon Mutual Fund moves it links to Ambani’s instructions, including ₹1,160 crore in Morgan Credits NCDs, ₹249.8 crore of ADA debentures purchased from Yes Bank and ₹1,750 crore in Yes Bank AT1 bonds, while the ED pursues a wider probe and Reliance Power and Reliance Infrastructure say their operations are unaffected.
