Overview
- An FIR has been registered naming Rahul Vijay and unknown associates, with the CBI’s Economic Offences Unit taking up the case under IPC sections 120B, 409, 467, 468, 471, 477A and relevant Prevention of Corruption Act provisions.
- The complaint says Vijay allegedly diverted funds while heading finance at Dehradun from 2019 to 2023; he is currently posted in a similar role at Jaipur airport.
- AAI’s audit and verification committee reported fictitious accounting entries, inflated asset capitalisation and transfers from official State Bank of India accounts to personal accounts.
- Investigators were told the accused created three user IDs for AAI’s bank account, trialed small transactions, then escalated to large transfers masked by duplicated work orders and false assets.
- A cited instance alleges that after recording genuine assets of Rs 67.81 crore on September 29, 2021, 17 non-existent assets totaling about Rs 189 crore were entered the next day and the funds moved to a personal account, with an additional Rs 43 crore charged to revenue heads.
