CBI Arrests Two Officials in Defence and Railways Bribery Traps
One suspect remains in police custody until October 4 pending scrutiny of seized records.
Overview
- Ashok Kumar Jadav, an auditor with the IFA under the CGDA in Gandhinagar, was caught on September 30 accepting Rs 3.5 lakh to clear a CCTV supply order for an Air Force station in Pune.
- After a transit remand from Ahmedabad, Jadav was produced before a special judge in Pune and sent to police custody through October 4, according to the CBI.
- The complainant alleged Jadav and an Air Force sergeant initially sought Rs 4 lakh, about 2% of a Rs 2.5 crore order, with recordings indicating the sergeant’s role, per officials.
- In a separate case, the CBI arrested Lakshmishankar Mathuraparsad, Chief Office Superintendent at the Divisional Railway Hospital in Nanded, after he accepted Rs 20,000 to process a pending bill and a performance guarantee.
- Traps were laid on September 29 and 30 and searches at both officials’ premises yielded documents and digital material now under examination, with both probes ongoing.
