- Ajit Kumar Patra and his associate Minku Lal Jain were arrested after a CBI trap, with the agency alleging they ran a scheme by posing as senior officials across government, enforcement bodies and the judiciary.
- The duo were caught on November 10 while receiving Rs 18 lakh from Jagjit Singh Gill, which CBI says was sent by Cybdeer Network CEO Vinod Parihar.
- Officials said Gill was apprehended and Parihar was held in Jaipur in connection with the attempted payoff linked to the November 4 DGGI raid.
- Searches across Delhi, Rajasthan and Odisha yielded about Rs 3.7 crore in cash, roughly 1 kg of gold, 26 property documents, four luxury vehicles, 12 other vehicles and multiple digital devices.
- CBI alleges the accused used name-dropping to secure VIP protocol, stays in official houses and access to restricted zones, and it is probing the wider network and any links to “unknown officials.”
