CBI Arrests Three in $40 Million US Tech-Support Scam, Nabs Alleged Kingpin at Delhi Airport

Investigators now focus on tracing crypto-routed proceeds with help from the FBI, NCA, Interpol.

  • The CBI registered the case on August 18 and began coordinated searches on August 20 across Amritsar and Delhi under Operation Chakra-IV.
  • An illegal call centre named Digikaps in Amritsar was dismantled, with 34 people intercepted while allegedly executing tech-support impersonation scams.
  • Seizures from the operation included 85 hard drives, 16 laptops, 44 mobile phones and ₹54 lakh in cash, along with extensive digital evidence.
  • Three accused — Jigar Ahmed, Yash Khurana and Inder Jeet Singh Bali — were arrested in the US-targeted, crypto-linked fraud estimated at about $40 million since 2023.
  • In a related probe from May, alleged syndicate head Arjun Prakash was intercepted at IGI Airport during an attempted flight to Kathmandu as part of the broader crackdown.
