CBI Arrests MCD Clerk Red-Handed Over Rs 50,000 Bribe

  • The CBI registered a case on August 4 against Upper Division Clerk Dal Chand after he allegedly demanded 10 percent of a gratuity payout of Rs 8,38,565 as illegal gratification.
  • Investigators laid a trap in New Delhi’s Nazafgarh zone and caught Dal Chand in the act of accepting a Rs 50,000 bribe from a complainant seeking release of owed gratuity.
  • According to the agency’s statement, Dal Chand threatened to withhold the remaining gratuity payment unless the illicit fee was paid.
  • He remains in custody under the Prevention of Corruption Act as CBI officers continue to collect evidence and question witnesses.
  • The CBI has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating corruption and urged citizens to report any bribery attempts through its Anti-Corruption Branch.
