CBI Arrests Delhi Police Sub-Inspector for Hawala-Facilitated Bribery

Rahul Malik allegedly demanded ₹50 lakh from a businessman under cybercrime investigation, accepting ₹2.5 lakh before being apprehended.

Rahul Malik, a Delhi Police sub-inspector, was arrested by the CBI for accepting a ₹2.5 lakh bribe through a hawala network.
The bribe was part of a larger ₹14 lakh amount negotiated down from an initial demand of ₹50 lakh made to a Navi Mumbai businessman.
Malik allegedly threatened to arrest the businessman and his brother-in-law if the bribe was not paid during a cybercrime investigation.
The CBI laid a trap, arresting a hawala operator in Mumbai who accepted the bribe on Malik's behalf before apprehending Malik in Delhi on March 19, 2025.
Malik, currently in CBI custody, is set to appear before a designated CBI court in Mumbai as the investigation uncovers further evidence of bribery and hawala transactions.
