CBI Arrests Arunachal Agriculture Professor and Vendor Over Rs 2.5 Lakh Bribe

Their arrest follows a July 23 sting over inflated procurement contracts at the Pasighat College of Agriculture.

Overview

  • Investigators say the duo was detained while assistant professor Pavankumar Goudar accepted a Rs 55,000 payoff from vendor Anand Kumar Dwivedi.
  • CBI alleges Dwivedi transferred Rs 1.95 lakh to a bank account designated by Goudar in May for preferential treatment in supply contracts.
  • The scheme centred on billing 30 Milton buckets at Rs 75,000 despite a market value of Rs 36,000 and demanding an additional Rs 63,000 in bribes.
  • A July 24 FIR invokes sections 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, charging the accused with criminal conspiracy and bribery.
  • Searches at the premises of both Goudar and Dwivedi are under way as CBI and ACB teams gather further evidence.
