- The CBF confirmed on Thursday, August 6 that the semiautomatic offside system will be available for Copa do Brasil matches starting in the quarterfinals.
- The move was made possible because every remaining club’s stadium is equipped with the required camera arrays and connectivity used by the system.
- The system debuted in Brazil on July 25 during the Campeonato Brasileiro and was triggered in five incidents with an average review time of about 47 seconds.
- Six quarterfinalists are already confirmed (Vasco, Grêmio, Atlético-MG, Santos, Cruzeiro and Palmeiras) while Vitória vs Athletico-PR and Corinthians vs Internacional will decide the last two spots.
- The CBF will hold a public draw at its Rio headquarters on August 11 to set quarterfinal pairings and home venues, and the federation says the system will run through the knockout phase to improve decision accuracy and transparency.
