CBF Sells Copa do Brasil Rights for Over R$4 Billion

Centralizing a single broadcast feed and fixed kick-off windows aims to raise match visibility and commercial value for clubs.

Overview

  • The CBF announced Thursday that it closed a competitive sales process for the 2027–2030 cycle that totals more than R$4 billion and includes Supercopa rights through 2031.
  • Rights were parceled across multiple platforms with Grupo Globo taking open TV, SporTV/Premiere and GE TV slots, Amazon Prime Video securing streaming, and reporting that ESPN is finalizing a package that remains subject to corporate governance approval.
  • The federation will generate and distribute a single standardized live feed for all Copa do Brasil matches so every broadcaster receives the same images and on-screen properties.
  • The tournament calendar was reworked to total 18 dates with predefined kick-off slots, near-elimination of simultaneous matches from the fifth round onward and no overlapping games from the quarterfinals, while free-to-air windows will roughly double.
  • The deal represents about an 80% revenue increase versus the prior cycle, roughly R$1 billion per season, and CBF said detailed prize distributions will be disclosed at the next Liga de Clubes meeting.
