Overview

  • Cleveland announced Aug. 26 that Max Strus had surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his left foot sustained during a recent offseason workout.
  • The procedure was performed by Dr. David Porter at Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Indianapolis in consultation with team physician Dr. James Rosneck.
  • Strus is expected to resume basketball activities in approximately three to four months, which rules him out for the start of the 2025-26 season that opens Oct. 22 in New York.
  • Cleveland plans to lean on its wing depth, with De'Andre Hunter positioned to start and Sam Merrill and Dean Wade among those likely to see expanded roles.
  • This marks a second straight season-opening absence following an offseason injury; Strus averaged 9.4 points and shot 38.6% from three in 50 games last year.
