CATL Launches Europe-Focused Shenxing Pro Batteries With 10-Minute Charging and 758-km WLTP Range

Production at its €7.3 billion Debrecen plant is targeted to begin by early 2026.

Overview

  • At IAA Munich, CATL introduced two LFP packs for Europe: a 122 kWh long-life version rated at 758 km WLTP with 10%–80% charging in 15 minutes and a 12-year/1,000,000-km design life, and a 110 kWh fast-charging version rated around 683 km WLTP with 10%–80% in 10 minutes and a 10-year/240,000-km warranty.
  • CATL says both variants use NP 3.0 safety technology designed to prevent thermal-runaway propagation, sustain high voltage for over an hour, and produce no flames or smoke during such events.
  • The fast-charging pack is claimed to add 478 km WLTP in 10 minutes, deliver up to 830 kW at 20% state of charge, and recover 410 km of range in 20 minutes at −20°C.
  • CATL’s Debrecen, Hungary facility—planned for 100 GWh of annual capacity and roughly 9,000 jobs—is slated to begin output at the end of 2025 or early 2026, according to the company’s Europe chief.
  • The rollout is part of a broader push to localize in Europe through manufacturing in Hungary and Germany, a planned joint-venture plant in Spain, deeper supplier partnerships, and expanded service infrastructure.
