CATL Debuts Shenxing Pro Batteries in Europe Push, Touting Safety and Speed

CATL positions its new LFP platform to ease European worries over range, charging, safety through NP 3.0 plus local production in Hungary.

Overview

  • CATL unveiled the Shenxing Pro platform in Munich with two LFP variants that the company says prioritize fast charging, long range and longevity.
  • The Super Long Life & Long Range pack is listed at 122 kWh for a 758 km WLTP range with 10%–80% charging in 15 minutes and a design life of 12 years or 1,000,000 km, according to CATL.
  • The Super Fast Charging pack is specified at 110 kWh for 683 km WLTP with 10%–80% charging in 10 minutes at 25°C and 20%–80% in 20 minutes at −20°C, with a 10-year or 240,000 km life, per the company.
  • CATL says both packs use its NP 3.0 safety system designed to prevent thermal runaway propagation and maintain vehicle power without fire or smoke, claims not yet validated by independent testing in the reports.
  • The company reaffirmed a €7.3 billion, 100 GWh plant in Debrecen that it expects to start up at the end of this year or early 2026, while highlighting a Germany facility, a planned Spain JV with Stellantis and preparations for battery swapping in Europe.
