Tom Murphy, the 32-year-old catcher, has finalized an $8.25 million, two-year contract with the San Francisco Giants, with an option for a third year that could make the agreement worth $12 million.
Murphy, who spent the past four years with Seattle and played his first four major league seasons for Colorado, batted .290 with eight home runs and 17 RBIs over 47 games for the Mariners this year.
Murphy's season ended in August due to a sprained left thumb.
Murphy is expected to share time with Patrick Bailey, who had a stellar rookie season on defense.
Murphy will make a $20,000 annual donation to the Giants Community Fund in 2024 and 2025, and in 2026 if the option is exercised.
