Overview
- The 'Catch the Rain-2025' campaign aims to install rooftop rainwater harvesting systems on 2.35 lakh government and semi-government buildings across Uttar Pradesh.
- So far, around 34,000 public buildings have been equipped with harvesting systems since the campaign’s launch.
- Sixteen districts including Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Barabanki and Jhansi have met the 100 percent installation target for eligible government structures.
- The Jal Shakti Department is overseeing implementation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s direction to address groundwater depletion.
- Officials say the initiative will recharge aquifers and secure water supplies for future generations once the planned expansion to over 100,000 additional buildings is complete.
