Overview

  • The 'Catch the Rain-2025' campaign aims to install rooftop rainwater harvesting systems on 2.35 lakh government and semi-government buildings across Uttar Pradesh.
  • So far, around 34,000 public buildings have been equipped with harvesting systems since the campaign’s launch.
  • Sixteen districts including Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Barabanki and Jhansi have met the 100 percent installation target for eligible government structures.
  • The Jal Shakti Department is overseeing implementation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s direction to address groundwater depletion.
  • Officials say the initiative will recharge aquifers and secure water supplies for future generations once the planned expansion to over 100,000 additional buildings is complete.
