Catamarca Book Fair Closes With 36,556 Visitors and Strong Sales

Organizers say the multi-venue program consolidated the fair as a cultural and tourism hub for the province.

  • The 17th edition wrapped up on Sunday, November 9, after four days at the Centro de Arte y Tecnología Aplicada (CATA) and the Cine Teatro Catamarca.
  • Attendance reached 36,556 according to event camera records, with 125 activities spanning 60 stands, 50 book presentations, 23 workshops, 20 talks, 13 plays, 3 artistic interventions and 17 recitals.
  • Bank Nación reported ARS 27,844,018.30 in 800 card transactions with an average ticket of ARS 36,830, alongside additional cash takings of ARS 1.5 million by the Biblioteca Julio Herrera and over ARS 1 million at the CATA crafts shop, excluding other stand cash sales.
  • Programming emphasized inclusion and childhood engagement through accessible, sensory materials and play-based stands from Caleido, Teke, Tintín and Papeza, with participation from school and disability groups.
  • Local publishing advanced with new voices and reissues such as Maíz Rojo’s work on Elizabeth Guzmán, the “Voces del interior profundo” cycle brought authors from multiple departments, and the heritage videogame “Los Guardianes de las Coplas” was presented after winning Código Cultura 2025.
