Catalonia’s Virtual and Mobile Offices Process Nearly 5,000 Citizen Requests

Officials are weighing route expansion or more vehicles to ease queues in some towns and boost access for residents with digital barriers.

Overview

  • The Generalitat reported Tuesday that its Oficina Virtual and five mobile office vans handled almost 5,000 citizen requests in roughly four months since the vans began operating in April and the virtual service launched in October 2025.
  • The virtual office conducted about 3,500 videocalled appointments, offers 180 weekly slots, is run by seven specialised civil servants and handles up to 160 different procedures.
  • The five mobile vans made roughly 1,100–1,200 attendances while visiting about 200 municipalities once a month and were funded with a €2.43 million allocation for the rest of 2026 and 2027.
  • The most requested services are registration of stable partners and matters linked to disability and dependency, and users give the combined services a 4.93 out of 5 satisfaction score.
  • Officials say uneven local demand has left some towns with queues and others with low turnout, and they are studying whether to extend routes or add vehicles which could change monthly schedules and require more staff or budget.
