Overview

  • The plan will create 504 new residential and day service places this year in facilities managed by municipalities and other local entities.
  • It allocates €9.1 million to urgent renovation works across more than 70 public centres including key facilities in Barcelona’s metro area and rural comarcas.
  • A €5 million investment will upgrade technology in department-managed residences with new communication systems, care monitoring tools and robotic amenities for dementia stimulation.
  • All department-run centres will adopt a standardised indicator and family satisfaction survey system to monitor and promote best practices in care quality.
  • The injection addresses a backlog of 14,000 people waiting up to three years for a public place and forms part of the government’s commitment to create 6,000 new spots before the end of its term.
