Overview

  • The Generalitat, leading telecom operators and municipal councils signed the TelcoCat protocol on July 10 to expand public fiber and mobile networks.
  • The agreement targets deployment of over 8,000 kilometers of public fiber optic cables and full coverage for 738 municipalities by December.
  • Under the protocol’s three-tier incident system, faults are classified by severity, requiring updates at least every four hours and resolution notices within one hour.
  • Starting in September, a Catalan-language telephone support line will operate from 7 a.m. to midnight to streamline rural incident reporting.
  • InfoConecta, the real-time incident-tracking platform, is scheduled to go live by the end of the year to enhance transparency among authorities and operators.
