Catalonia Opens 50 Scholarships to Train Candidates for Its Tax Agency Corps

The program seeks to boost the ATC’s capacity ahead of a planned 2028 handover of income-tax administration, which still requires state legal changes.

Overview

  • The call was published in the DOGC on September 25, with applications accepted through October 16 via the Generalitat website.
  • The 50 grants are split into 20 for inspector trainees, 15 for senior technicians and 15 for technical managers, paying €1,184 per month with 12 months for inspectors and senior technicians and 8 months for managers, for a total allocation of €639,360.
  • Applicants must be of legal age, hold C1 Catalan, have effective residence in Catalonia for at least five of the past seven years and meet the relevant university degree requirements for each corps.
  • Beneficiaries must remain resident in Catalonia and follow specialized preparation, selection gives weight to financial need, and three places are reserved for applicants with a disability of 33% or more.
  • The scholarships form part of a broader ATC buildout toward assuming IRPF in 2028 under the PSC–ERC accord, with the ATC’s roughly 830 staff far below AEAT’s 4,400 in Catalonia and any transfer contingent on legal reforms in Madrid.
