Overview

  • On July 1, Catalonia began a year-long pilot converting 27 CAP centers into Community Health Integral Reference centers (CSIRs) to modernize its primary care model
  • The reform grants CSIRs enhanced autonomy and strengthens administrative roles to reduce bureaucracy and allow clinicians to focus on patient consultation
  • Voice-recognition mechanisms have been deployed to eliminate manual transcription of patient dialogues and speed up documentation
  • CSIR teams will integrate mental health, social care and chronic disease management to deliver holistic, community-oriented services
  • A mid-2026 evaluation led by the Cairos committee will determine which measures are scaled to the rest of Catalonia’s primary care centers
