Overview
- The Consell Executiu approved creating the Autoritat Aeroportuària de Catalunya to group planning and oversight powers and position the Generalitat to participate in airport management.
- A technical committee coordinated by Aeroports Públics de Catalunya will be constituted within one month to drive the rollout of the new body.
- The committee has six months to propose an amendment to Law 14/2009 establishing the authority as a public entity with its statutes.
- The government expects parliamentary processing during 2026 with the authority targeted to be fully operational in 2027.
- The scope covers the full Catalan network, including Barcelona–El Prat, Girona, Reus, Lleida-Alguaire, Sabadell and Andorra–La Seu, with functions spanning strategic planning, operational monitoring, intermodality and ecological transition.
