Overview

  • Matthew Nannen, 45, and Bailee Crane, 58, died after crossing safety railings and falling 380 feet at Bryce Canyon National Park's Inspiration Point.
  • Their 12-year-old cat, Mirage, survived the fall in a torn, mud-covered carrier and is now recuperating at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah.
  • Veterinary exams revealed Mirage suffered fractured ribs and teeth but is otherwise healthy and eating and drinking on her own.

  • The sanctuary is working to contact the couple's relatives or find Mirage a permanent adoptive home if no family members come forward.
