Castro Theatre Renovation Plans Move Forward After San Francisco Board Vote

San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted to allow removal of seats from Castro Theatre
The move clears the way for Another Planet Entertainment to transform the theatre into a multiuse venue
The decision is not final and will be discussed by the Historic Preservation Commission and the Planning Commission on Thursday
Some preservationists think that the commission must still bar Another Planet from taking out the orchestra seats
The theater is in need of millions of dollars of repairs, and Another Planet's renovation project would invest at least $15 million to address those and other problems while replacing the seats and improving access for people with disabilities
