• The Asociación de la Prensa Deportiva de Valladolid confirmed Mardones’s death on the night of July 16–17 following a prolonged battle with cancer.
• A public farewell service is being held at Valladolid’s Tanatorio El Salvador on July 17, where friends, colleagues and fans are gathering to pay their respects.
• Mardones joined Televisión Castilla y León in 2006 and became one of the network’s most familiar sports presenters and reporters.
• He served as director of communication for the Club Patinaje en Línea Valladolid from 2010 to 2012 and for the Aula Cultural handball club until 2019.
• As president of the Olid Triathlon Team, he competed regularly in triathlon events, and regional clubs including Real Valladolid, UD Sur and BM Aula have issued condolences.
