Castilla-La Mancha Road Deaths Fall 14.9% in 2025, DGT Says

Provisional data report 68 fatalities to December 17, reflecting a regional drop with stark provincial contrasts.

  • Toledo recorded 27 deaths in 26 crashes, an increase from 20 a year earlier.
  • Cuenca counted 18 fatalities and Albacete nine, both up from 2024, while Ciudad Real fell to eight and Guadalajara to six.
  • Across Spain, at least 1,088 people died on interurban roads through December 17, slightly below the same period in 2024, with 1,154 deaths in all of 2024.
  • The deadliest stretch of 2025 was summer, with 115 deaths in July, 114 in August and 116 in September.
  • From January 1, 2026, the V16 warning light is scheduled to replace roadside triangles, and Congress is processing a bill to lower the legal alcohol limit to 0.10 mg/l.
