Cassidy Tops Wet-to-Drying FP3 At Monza
A late pace jump on a drying track raises setup and tyre questions for teams ahead of qualifying.
Overview
- Nick Cassidy put the No. 93 Peugeot 9X8 fastest in final practice with a 1:42.706 late in the 60-minute FP3 session on Saturday.
- Overnight and morning rain left the circuit soaked but grip improved as the session progressed, producing a late surge in lap times and bringing teams close to a slick-tyre crossover.
- Contact at Parabolica between Robert Kubica and Tom Gamble caused both cars to spin and the Stewards assigned Gamble a 10-second stop-go penalty for being at fault.
- The No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari was sidelined for most of FP3 by a brake-by-wire/ECU-related braking problem and returned only for a single installation lap after repairs.
- Alessio Rovera led LMGT3 for AF Corse with a 1:56.069, several cars suffered spins or off-track moments in the tricky conditions, and qualifying plus Hyperpole remain scheduled for the afternoon.
