Casio Turns A168 Into Ring‑Sized Digital Watch

The company miniaturized a basic watch module to offer a low‑complexity ring that tells time instead of tracking health data.

Overview

  • Casio has released the CRW-002, a ring‑sized digital watch based on the 1995 A168 design that uses a tiny module the company says is about one‑tenth the size of a standard watch module.
  • The CRW-002 provides core digital functions: 12- or 24-hour time, an auto calendar, a 1/100‑second stopwatch, water resistance, a six‑digit LCD with LED backlight, and a pulsing backlight option.
  • The ring is made with full‑metal injection molding, three side buttons, and fit for a size 10.5 finger (size 22 Japan) with included spacers to adjust for smaller fingers.
  • Casio will sell the CRW-002 in two finishes, silver for $135 and gold for $155, at select retailers and on Casio’s website in November.
  • The CRW-002 continues Casio’s ring experiments that started with the CRW-001 and a G-Shock–inspired ring and contrasts with China’s CRW-H001 by prioritizing simple timekeeping over health tracking or companion apps.
