Casa Borinqueña to Leave San Francisco’s Saluhall on Jan. 1 as Food Hall Turmoil Deepens

Ingka Centres’ takeover from Kerb reshaped vendor terms after months of weak foot traffic.

Overview

  • Casa Borinqueña announced on Instagram it will close its Saluhall stall on Jan. 1, 2026, ending nearly two years at the downtown food hall.
  • Chef-owner Lulu Nau cited roughly $500 in daily sales and less favorable conditions under new management as key reasons for the decision.
  • Ingka Centres confirmed it has assumed day-to-day operations following its split with former operator Kerb Food.
  • The San Francisco Chronicle reported about 30 Kerb-managed workers are expected to be laid off by Dec. 1, with some employees saying they learned of changes by word of mouth.
  • After a string of departures, the remaining vendors are Smish Smash, Cheezy’s Artisanal Pizza, Sate and Soto, and Curry Up Now.
