The arbitral panel upheld the FMF’s 2020 decision to suspend promotion and relegation through 2025–26 after an in‑person hearing on August 28 in Mexico City. Ten clubs initially appealed, but Atlante, Cimarrones, Alebrijes and Jaiba Brava withdrew; the case proceeded with Atlético La Paz, Atlético Morelia, Cancún FC, Mineros, Venados and Leones Negros. The six claimant clubs must pay a total of CHF 12,000 to the FMF as a contribution to legal and related costs. The FMF said its General Assembly will finalize the rules that govern the 2026–27 reinstatement after the 2025–26 season concludes. Certification remains the administrative route to top‑flight eligibility, with Atlante currently the only Liga de Expansión club certified.
