Overturning the AIFF appeals committee verdict, the CAS left the fate of the I-League championship to a pending second appeal

Overview

  • The Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed the February disciplinary ruling that Namdhari FC fielded an ineligible player and awarded Inter Kashi a 3–0 forfeit win for Match 45 of the I-League season.
  • Inter Kashi’s point tally rises to 38, moving the Varanasi club into second place behind Churchill Brothers, who hold 42 points in the current standings.
  • A separate second appeal filed by Inter Kashi at CAS, concerning other match disputes, remains undecided and will determine the 2024-25 I-League champions.
  • The tribunal directed the AIFF to pay 2,000 Swiss francs to Inter Kashi and ordered Churchill Brothers and Namdhari FC to each contribute 1,000 Swiss francs toward the club’s legal costs.
  • The All India Football Federation has committed to implementing the CAS ruling and adjusting the league table once the final appeals are resolved.
