Carrefour Italia Recalls Fish and Goat Cheese for Listeria Risk

French authorities withdrew more than 50 Fromagerie Chavegrand cheeses after 21 reported listeriosis infections, two of which proved fatal.

Overview

  • On August 14, Carrefour Italia warned of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination in two cod products and one goat cheese.
  • The Cotolette di merluzzo carbonaro (lot 5212531, expires August 17) and Filetti impanati di merluzzo d’Alaska (lot 5213532, expires August 18) are both produced by Cite Marin at its Kervignac plant in France (FR 56.094.004 CE).
  • The recalled Buche Chevre La Belle du Bocage goat cheese from Fromagerie Chavegrand (FR 23.117.001 CE) covers all batches expiring between July 25 and August 12.
  • Consumers are advised to stop consumption, return affected products to stores, and consult a doctor if they develop fever or headache, with a Carrefour helpline available at 800 650 650.
  • Separately, Carrefour also recalled its Classic mozzarella Maxi pack x3 over alerts for potential metallic foreign objects.
