The Carolina Panthers will host their training camp in Charlotte next summer, ending a tradition of holding it at Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. since the team's inception in 1995, with the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The move is part of a growing trend among NFL teams to streamline football operations by holding training camps at their team headquarters where they train year-round.
The Panthers are also planning to remove their dome practice field and begin work on new practice fields, which will provide additional space and the opportunity to rotate fields to minimize wear and tear.
The changes are expected to be completed by next summer, allowing the Panthers to have three full-length practice fields, as it was before the dome was built.
The team is working on logistics to accommodate fans during the camp as they don't have the same space they had at Wofford College, with more details to be announced at a later date.
