Carlos Mendoza Hired as New York Mets Manager

Former Yankees Bench Coach Signs Three-Year Contract, Becomes Second Venezuelan-Born Manager in Major League History

Carlos Mendoza, 43, has been officially hired as the new manager of the New York Mets, replacing Buck Showalter.
Mendoza's contract with the Mets is for three years, with a team option for 2027.
Mendoza has a wealth of experience, having managed and coached in the minors for over a decade and served as bench coach for the New York Yankees for the past four years.
Mendoza is the second Venezuelan-born manager in major league history, following Ozzie Guillén.
This is the first major move by the Mets under the leadership of David Stearns, the new president of baseball operations.
