Overview
- On July 8, von Tiedemann was buried in a private ceremony at Quickborn’s Evangelischer Heidefriedhof with 15 close relatives, honoring his wish for an intimate farewell.
- His three children delivered personal eulogies and the service featured his requested musical tributes “Nessun dorma” and Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” with a wooden bench placed at his graveside.
- NDR will broadcast the public memorial “Danke Carlo!” live from Hamburg’s Hauptkirche St. Michaelis on July 10 at 16:15 on television and radio.
- The commemorative service will include liturgical and secular segments led by Pastorin Julia Atze and Bishop Kirsten Fehrs, hosted by Bettina Tietjen, with performances from Joja Wendt, the NDR Bigband and Lotto King Karl, and a closing address by Mary Roos.
