Carlo Ljubek Named New Lead Detective for Munich's 'Tatort'

The actor will replace longtime duo Nemec and Wachtveitl in 2026, marking a new era for the iconic crime series.

Carlo Ljubek, a 48-year-old actor with Croatian roots, will star as Kriminalhauptkommissar Nikola Buvak in Munich's 'Tatort' starting in 2026.
He succeeds Miroslav Nemec and Udo Wachtveitl, who will retire after solving 100 cases over 35 years as Ivo Batic and Franz Leitmayr.
Ljubek's co-star will be Ferdinand Hofer, who continues in his role as Kriminaloberkommissar Kalli Hammermann, bringing continuity to the series.
The new team’s first episode is set to begin filming in late 2025, following the final appearances of the outgoing duo.
Ljubek, trained at Munich's Otto-Falckenberg-Schule, has an extensive theater and screen career, including roles in Netflix's 'Schlafende Hunde' and previous 'Tatort' episodes.
