Overview
- Out-of-hours GP clinics in Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford, south Tipperary and south Wicklow are closed from 6pm Thursday to 9am Friday after a strike that began at 8am, with no emergency cover available.
- The public has been advised to call 999 for emergencies and to use hospital emergency departments or seek guidance from GP surgeries for urgent needs.
- About 270 workers represented by INMO and SIPTU are participating, including triage nurses, drivers for doctors and receptionists.
- Mediation between CareDoc and the HSE is underway in Dublin chaired by barrister Hugh Mohan, with the unions saying they are not party to the HSE-led discussions.
