Cardinals Request Interview With Texans DBs Coach Dino Vasso for Defensive Coordinator

Arizona is gauging a young secondary specialist credited with elevating Houston’s pass defense.

Overview

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Arizona submitted the request as the team fills Mike LaFleur’s staff.
Vasso, 38, has coached Houston’s secondary since 2021 after earlier roles with the Eagles, including assistant defensive coordinator in 2020, and the Chiefs.
Under Vasso, Houston ranked sixth against the pass in each of the past two seasons and logged 19 interceptions in both years for an NFL-best 38 total.
The Cardinals have also been linked to Rams assistant head coach and pass game coordinator Aubrey Pleasant and Giants outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen for the vacancy.
Interest in Vasso has grown leaguewide, with the Titans previously requesting an interview, and no hire has been finalized in Arizona.
