Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwill Accused of Creating a Hostile and Discriminatory Workplace, Multiple Reports Allege

Former employees claim Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill engaged in allegedly sexist and racially charged behavior, leading to a toxic work environment. Reports also highlight instances of public humiliation and claims of discriminatory workplace practices, including separate stairways for male and female staff.

  • Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill is facing accusations of sexist and racially charged behavior, according to reports. Former employees claim that Bidwill created a hostile work environment, with some necessary to seek treatment for mental health issues including depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
  • Former Vice President of player personnel, Terry McDonough, filed a complaint against Bidwill, alleging discrimination, harassment, and gross misconduct. The complaint also alleges that Bidwill publicly humiliated employees, causing unnecessary distress.
  • Instances of public humiliation include berating then-General Manager Steve Keim in front of the whole staff following his DUI arrest, and doing the same to the then-Executive Vice President and COO, Ron Minegar, when he was arrested for a DUI.
  • Reports also allege discriminatory workplace practices put in place by Bidwill. These include separate stairways for male and female staff, barring women from certain areas in the facility, treating them differently, and employing workplace practices designed to keep female business staff separate from male staff on the football side.
  • Despite these allegations, some of Bidwill's former employees defend his character. Former human resources chief Lisa Lutich and former executive vice president and COO Ron Minegar deny any instances of racism from Bidwill. The Cardinals organization itself has described the accusations in the complaint as 'outlandish'
