Lynn's last outing was a six-inning, one-run performance in a 3-1 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Cardinals recalled Michael McGreevy, a 24-year-old right-hander, from Triple-A Memphis to fill Lynn's spot.
McGreevy, who debuted earlier this season, had a 9-8 record with a 4.02 ERA in 27 starts for Memphis.
