Overview

• Nirodha Niwunhella, 32, was found seriously injured on South Morgan Place in Riverside at 7:37am on 21 August and was pronounced dead at the scene.
• Thisara Weragalage, 37, of Pentwyn, has been charged with murder, remanded in custody, and is scheduled to appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court today.
• Police said the man was known to the victim and was arrested shortly after the incident on Seawall Road in Splott.
• Officers are asking for witnesses and any CCTV or dashcam footage between 7:30am and 8:30am, especially sightings of a grey Ford Fiesta near South Morgan Place, Seawall Road, Wellington Street, Clare Road, Penarth Road and East Tyndall Street.
• Her family paid tribute, calling Nirodha a cherished daughter and dear friend, while DCI Matthew Davies said specially trained officers are supporting relatives and urged anyone with information to come forward.
