Overview
- The 23rd Cardiff Half is due to start at 10:00 BST on Sunday with roughly 29,000–30,000 entrants on the 13.1-mile city course that begins outside Cardiff Castle and finishes at King Edward VII Avenue.
- Race-day road closures are in effect across Cardiff and Transport for Wales has added extra trains and capacity to key routes to cope with the influx of runners and spectators.
- A World Athletics Elite Road Race field will lead the event, headlined by former world record-holder Joyciline Jepkosgei and Kenyan Gideon Kiprotich among international entrants.
- Organisers say the event sold out through a ballot after heavy demand, they have opened the ballot for 2027, and coverage notes conflicting reports about whether the ballot was introduced this year or last year.
- Spectator zones, live tracking via the Run 4 Wales app, bands and choirs will line the route, the Met Office forecasts dry conditions around 19C, and charities stand to benefit from large fundraising efforts.
