Cardell Hayes has been convicted of manslaughter for the second time in the shooting death of former New Orleans Saints star Will Smith.
The incident occurred in April 2016, following a traffic crash in New Orleans.
Hayes was acquitted of attempted manslaughter in the shooting and wounding of Smith’s wife, Racquel Smith.
Hayes had previously been convicted in December 2016, but the conviction was overturned after the U.S. Supreme Court outlawed nonunanimous verdicts.
Hayes faces up to 40 years in prison.
