Caravan Salon 2025 Opens in Düsseldorf With Record Exhibitors and Full Spectrum of RVs

The record turnout underscores a market that is widening in choice even as new registrations ease.

Overview

  • The ten‑day show runs August 29 to September 7 with 810 exhibitors from 41 countries across 15 halls, the highest participation to date.
  • Displays range from a newly developed 1,000‑kilogram lightweight caravan starting at €18,900 to a bespoke luxury motorhome costing more than €2 million with a 530 hp engine and an integrated car garage.
  • From January to July 2025 about 65,300 new leisure vehicles were registered in Germany, down 3.5% year over year, with caravans off roughly 10% to about 13,500 and motorhomes at about 51,800 (‑1.7%), while private buying and the used market remain active with more than 121,000 ownership changes in seven months.
  • Electrification is on display but still nascent: Dethleffs showed the e.home Eco study with roughly 240 km range and renewable materials, and only about 200 battery‑electric motorhomes and around 200 hybrids are registered in Germany according to the CIVD, which cites weight and range limits.
  • Manufacturers are tailoring models to a proposed EU licence change that could allow B‑licence holders to drive up to 4.25 tonnes with training or a test, positioning many new vehicles at or near that threshold.
