Caracal, ICOMM Secure Contract to Build 200 CSR 338 Sniper Rifles for CRPF in Hyderabad

First India-built rifles are scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Overview

  • Abu Dhabi-based Caracal, an EDGE group company, will partner with MEIL unit ICOMM Tele to supply 200 rifles to the CRPF, according to company statements.
  • Manufacturing and delivery will take place at the ICOMM–CARACAL Small Arms Complex in Hyderabad, which was inaugurated in April as a local production hub.
  • The partners present the deal as aligned with Make in India and say it includes technology transfer and high-skill job creation in Hyderabad.
  • The CSR 338 is a bolt-action sniper rifle in .338 Lapua Magnum with a 27-inch barrel, 10-round magazine, two-stage adjustable trigger, and a telescopic foldable stock.
  • The companies say the facility is positioned to meet Indian security forces’ needs and support future export orders.
