Overview
- A grey Audi A3 and an Arriva 10A bus collided at the Warrington Road and Chatsworth Road junction in Rainhill just before 10:30am on Friday, July 31, 2026.
- A woman in her 40s and two babies who were in the car were taken to hospital for treatment and bus passengers are not believed to have suffered serious injuries so far.
- Police, ambulance crews and an air ambulance attended the scene, a cordon was put in place and road closures and local diversions remain active.
- Detective Sergeant Andy Roper said the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit is in the early stages of its inquiry and asked anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to contact the SCIU quoting incident reference 25000494295.
- Arriva confirmed Service 10A will be diverted via Delph Lane, Portico Lane and Scholes Lane while Warrington Road, Rainhill Road and Nutgrove Road are omitted and local residents reported a rapid emergency response and concern about the junction.
