CAQM Lifts Stage III GRAP Curbs Across Delhi-NCR After AQI Improves

Officials credit rain plus strong winds for the drop, with Stage I and II steps continuing as forecasts point to 'Poor' to 'Very Poor' air.

Overview

  • Delhi’s AQI fell from about 380 on Thursday to roughly 236 by 4 pm Friday, prompting the CAQM Sub-Committee to revoke Stage III measures with immediate effect across the NCR.
  • Non-essential construction and demolition can restart, along with stone crushers, brick kilns, mining and transport of construction materials, and previously banned BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers and certain diesel buses may operate again.
  • Physical classes for students up to Class 5 can fully resume, reversing hybrid arrangements that applied under Stage III restrictions.
  • Stage I and II actions remain in force, with agencies told to intensify sweeping, dust control, waste management, checks on polluting vehicles, curbs on diesel generators and oversight of industries and fuel use to prevent a relapse.
  • Sites shut for violations cannot reopen without explicit CAQM orders, officials will keep close watch on trends, and dense fog on Friday led to 66 flight cancellations at Delhi airport.
