CAQM Audit Flags 35 High-Dust MCD Roads, Orders Intensified Cleaning

Geo-tagged inspections showed stronger compliance by NDMC, with CPWD also largely meeting norms.

Overview

  • Twenty-six CAQM Flying Squads inspected 321 road stretches across Delhi on November 29 under Operation Clean Air.
  • The audit recorded 35 stretches with high visible dust, 61 with moderate dust, 94 with low dust, and 131 with no visible dust.
  • All 35 high-dust locations fell under MCD’s 182 inspected stretches, while NDMC had zero high-dust spots across 133 roads and CPWD had none across six.
  • CAQM directed agencies, with emphasis on MCD, to ramp up mechanical sweeping, optimize schedules, deploy dust-suppression, and ensure timely disposal in line with GRAP.
  • Teams submitted time-stamped, geo-tagged photographs as evidence, and the Commission said targeted follow-up inspections will continue.
